Civil Division

The civil division hears disputes involving two or more parties.  Generally, the disputes involve claims about an injury, property, or money.  They sometimes involve request for a court order requiring the defendant to stop a certain action or to act a certain way.

The civil division encourages litigants to consider alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.  When the parties cannot reach an agreement, the civil division judges will conduct a trial to resolve the case.

Information about judges assigned to the civil division can be found here.
