Family Division

The judges assigned to the Family Division hear a wide range of domestic and family-related issues, including dissolution of marriage, paternity, allocation of parental responsibilities, child support, orders of protection, and adoptions.

Mediation

Family law cases often benefit from the services of a skilled mediator.  Mediation is a cooperative process for resolving conflict with the assistance of a trained court-appointed, neutral third party, whose role is to facilitate communication, to help define issues, and to assist the parties in identifying and negotiating fair solutions that are mutually agreeable.

Guardians ad Litem, Child Representatives and Attorneys for Children

Family cases involving children may benefit from an attorney serving in a special capacity as an attorney for the child, a Guardian ad litem, or a Child Representative.  These attorneys have special training and meet ongoing education requirements.
